Madonna is thinking about casting Florence Pugh to play her in her upcoming biopic
Another possible candidate is Ozark star Julie Garner
If reports are to be believed, Madonna is considering Florence Pugh to play her role in her upcoming biopic.
The Black Widow actress, 25, is currently a favourite of movie execs, following her performance in Little Women. Also in the running is Ozark star Julia Garner who looks similar to Madonna and will be ideal to portray her in her younger days. However, the 62-year-old Crazy For You singer will be having the final say.
Choosing between the two
One source stated that the team behind the movie want Florence to get the role and nobody doubts that she’s going to do an amazing job. Those who are gunning for Julia are the fans and some of the press due to her almost spot-on appearance to young Madonna. The source ended by saying that Madonna will be having the final say and she’s currently under serious pressure to find the right one to do the job.
Fans previously thought that Julia was going to get the role after Madonna followed her on Instagram in August. That same day, Madonna’s longtime manager Guy Oseary also followed the promising young actress, thereby adding fuel to the rumours. Another reason for going with Julia is because Pugh had recently signed on the film The Maid and will have scheduling conflicts if she takes up this movie as well.
The Madonna biopic is being co-written by Madonna and Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody and film executive Amy Pascal will be the producer.
Madonna had announced the project last year through Instagram, and spoke about her incredible journey as an artist, musician, and dancer. She added that the focus will always be on music as that was the art that kept her alive.
Madonna had previously directed projects such as the 2008 drama Filth and Wisdom and the 2011 movie W.E.
