Sex and the City revival has been confirmed by HBO Max, will start production in spring

Sex and the City is officially getting renewed by HBO Max, with the actors and streamer confirming the news.
The upcoming chapter will be titled, “And Just Like That…” and will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Kim Cattrall, who starred as Samantha Jones in the original will not be returning for the new show. The three lead actresses will also be the executive producers of the show, as well as Michael Patrick King.
Sharing the happy news
In the revival, we will be seeing Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Charlotte York (Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Nixon) going through love and friendship in their 50s. There will be 10 episodes consisting of half an hour, and the production will start in New York City in late spring.
All three leads shared the happy news on Instagram this Sunday with a short teaser. The video navigates between footage of New York City and a computer screen where the phrases “And just like that…” and “The story continues…” are typed, while Parker provides her signature voiceover. Parker captioned her post, “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?”
Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max shared in a statement that she grew up with these characters and can’t wait to see how their story is going to unfold in the upcoming chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved New York City that has been a big part of their lives.
The series was created by Darren Star based on Candace Bushnell’s 1997 book of the same name. It first aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004 and consisted of six seasons. Later two films titled Sex and the City in 2008 and Sex and the City 2 came in 2010. A prequel called The Carrie Diaries starrjng AnnaSophia Robb aired on the CW in 2013.
