Fargo: The Dark Anthology Series Set to make Another Return with a Darker Season? New Updates Below
The series inspired by the 1996 movie can always connect more stories
Fargo is at a whole different standing after starting from North Dakota in 1996. The dark comedy crime drama, which premiered in 1996 was a major turning point in the career of the Coen Brothers. The movie combined gruesome murders with friendly smiles and showed how even the most calm and idle areas in America have their own deadly secrets.
This was the same idea behind the FX anthology series of the same name. While the stories are no longer in North Dakota, it follows the same theme as the movie. Every season is a combination of violence, politics and satire. Season 4 premiered on September 27, 2020, on FX and is also available on Netflix. This may or may not be the last time we step deep into Fargo territory.
Possibility of another season
While speaking about the chances of a fifth season to Deadline, showrunner Noah Hawley said that he’s certainly not ruling it out, but he’s currently busy with other projects including a novel. Season 4 was just as impressive as the other 3, so if Hawley wants to make another one, FX will give him the green light.
Season 5 speculations
If another season happens, it’s definitely going to take place in a different period. The show has a knack for expanding across the Midwestern United States in places where you don’t expect crimes to happen. Season 4 took place in the 1950s and the other seasons jumped between the 1970s to the modern day. It’s unlikely that the show will go even backwards in time and could instead focus on the 21st century.
It took three-and-a-half years between seasons 3 and 4. Therefore we shouldn’t expect the show to receive an update before 2023 or 2024. Either way, we are willing to wait.
