The Blacklist season 8 episode 5: NBC Dropped Stupefying Spoilers on ‘Fribourg Confidence’ Around which Coming Episodes will Revolve

Warning: Spoilers from the early part of The Blacklist season 8 ahead

We are still some days away before episode 5 of The Blacklist season 8 airs on NBC. We will be getting two more episodes before the fated episode airs. Fortunately, NBC is sharing updates on what to expect when it arrives.

The fifth episode is reportedly titled “Fribourg Confidence.” It’s said to focus on a case-of-the-week story instead of something that runs over the entire season, like what’s happening in the current season so far. Also, a certain case which was discussed in the past will be re-emerging.

What’s happening right now?

The Blacklist

As per the synopsis of episode 5, the task force will be investigating and trying to identify the location of an organisation of bank robbers. This group has a particular expertise in stealing from other criminals.

Two episodes from season 8 has aired so far, and we got to see Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) and Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) turning their backs on each other, which has led to rivalries between the former partners. This came after Liz witnessing Red killing her mother Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins). This conflict might come to an end by episode 3 or 4.

Liz’s quest for vengeance will be shown once again on episode 3. She was always aware about the huge gap between their skills and now that she’s seen him kill her mother, she will stop at nothing to get to the truth.

The old case

Once the issue between Liz and Red gets solved, the duo will go back to solving specific cases. An old case is said to resurface and while the details are unknown, we can expect some familiar characters to show up again. A lot of the bad guys have been apprehended or killed by the task force, so it’s going to remain a mystery.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 5 will be airing on Friday, Feb.5, on NBC.
