We are not just getting a second season but a third as well
Season 1 of Snowpiercer released almost a year ago and Netflix has just announced that the show has been renewed for a second season with some new heavy-duty cast members.
Sean Bean has now joined as Mr Wilford in the post apocalyptic sci-fi show that continues the story of the eponymous train containing the last remnants of a global catastrophe around an icy earth. Season one was all about the revolt inside the train led by Layton (Daveed Diggs) and judging from the trailer, it looks like there’s going to be an all-out war in the second season.
The second season is right around the corner. It will start streaming on Netflix from 26th January 2021, exactly a year after the first season and the streaming giant has also released a few stills on its Twitter. Another bit of good news is that the show has already been renewed for a third season.
Snowpiercer was one of the few lucky shows that didn’t get affected by the coronavirus with the filming almost fully finished by the time the lockdowns were initiated. Star Lena Hall told ScreenRant that they only had episodes 9 and 10 to complete and were able to finish it without any hiccups.
What’s the plot?
From the trailer, we can understand that Bean’s Mr Wilford shows up after presumably being dead and being the original leader, demands the train back. But Layton and his faction argues that Snowpiercer belongs to the people and a major fight’s going to break out from that.
It also looks like we won’t be leaving the train for the time being, even though actor Annalise Basso has said that she hopes for the series to explore life outside Snowpiercer.
