During an interview with Coach, the music icon discussed her life during her 30s

Jennifer Lopez was recently in the news when she clapped back at the trolls who said she got Botox surgery. At 51, JLo might look the same she did 20 years ago, aside from being one of the biggest names in the music and movie industries, is a Super Bowl headliner, inauguration performer, and has her own natural cosmetics line to top it all off. But that doesn’t mean she had always loved herself.

In a new #CoachConversations video posted on Jan.22, JLo spoke about not feeling her best in previous relationships.

Time in therapy

While speaking to purpose coach Jay Shetty, Lopez spoke about the time she underwent therapy during her late 30s and heard a lot of talk about self love. At that time, she felt like she loved herself.

But she realised she never understood the whole concept after finding out that she did many things in her personal relationships that didn’t feel like she loved herself. It took her time and it’s still an ongoing journey for her.

Relationship with Marc Anthony

Lopez was married Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014. While she didn’t name him personally, she was 34 when they got married and 44 when they divorced so it’s evident.

During an interview with W Magazine in 2016, she said the marriage wasn’t what she hoped for and finding forgiveness wasn’t easy. She said she “hung in there” for seven years since Marc was the father of her children and she wanted to make it work.

Lopez is currently on friendly terms with Marc and share their 12-year-old twins Emme and Maximilian.

In her Coach interview, she spoke about how people always said that she is reinventing herself, and that she doesn’t like that word. She says its evolution and it’s important to listen to yourself and your self-talk.
