Ethan Hunt will be returning once again!

Following the massive success of 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, it was only a matter of time until we expected another movie announcement. At this point, we are not aware of any details regarding the movie’s story but there have been plenty of updates coming regarding the production.

But nonetheless, Mission: Impossible 7 is releasing on November 19, 2021 and the crew is hard at work on making sure everything is wrapped up by that time.

Not the last mission

Mission: Impossible 7 will not be the final mission for Ethan and his team. Following the announcement of the seventh installment, Paramount announced that an eighth movie will also be there and is set to be released on November 4, 2022. You may be surprised by the short duration between the two, but it’s because the two movies are being made back-to-back, similar to the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. But the pressure to do this during a nationwide lockdown is close to…. well, impossible.

Christopher McQuarrie will be the director

The franchise has taken a different approach with its direction, and each movie is helmed by a different, but very renowned director. After Brian De Palma, John Woo, J.J. Abrams and Brad Bird, Christopher McQuarrie has stepped forward to direct the franchise since Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. McQuarrie had also directed Jack Reacher starring Cruise and the two have a good working relationship going on.

COVID-19 Delays

The movie was one of the first ones to get shut down while filming in Italy, one of the first countries to become a major hotspot for the virus. Cruise didn’t want to postpone it for long periods like others did and continued to film dangerous stunts at a test track in England. The shoot officially resumed in September. But some crew members tested positive for the virus and we got to hear the news about Tom yelling at everyone for not following protocols.
