Star Wars’ Twitter account shows support for High Republic host Krystina Arielle after racist abuse
Arielle joins John Boyega in getting racist backlash from social media
Krystina Arielle, the host of the upcoming Star Wars: The High Republic started receiving racial abuse online after tweets of her speaking about the role white people play in upholding racism surfaced. Aside from getting racist abuse, she was branded as being racist herself.
The official Star Wars Twitter account then came forward to show their support to her by saying, “Our Star Wars community is one of hope and inclusivity.”
Arielle’s past tweets
Ms. Arielle was recently cast as the host of The High Republic Show, which is an upcoming we berries about Star Wars: The High Republic, a subseries of the Star Wars media franchise.
Her old tweets were brought up in Twitter, mostly from the time when the protests related to the Black Lives Matter movement were happening and in some of them, Arielle has given her personal opinions on systemic racism. One of them was: “Just a reminder that white women are just as complicit in upholding and enforcing white supremacy.”
Following all the abuses she got on Friday, she tweeted by saying that the last 24 hours had not been the greatest and showed screenshots of some very racist and offensive messages, from Twitter, Instagram, and even through gmail.

But she soon got a lot of support from other sections of Twitter, and the hashtag #IStandWithKrystina soon began trending.
Matthew Mercer, known voice actor and host of the Critical Role podcast who had featured her in the past, tweeted in support of her well and said that if anyone tries to step into her ring better know that they will all be there with her.
In the past, actor John Boyega had faced racist backlash from fans after he was casted in The Force Awakens.
