After one season, a special episode and a movie, what lies next?
Violet Evergarden is a Netflix Original anime series that was greatly praised by both the audience and critics. Due to its immense success, it’s only natural for the anime to warrant a second season.
Violet Evergarden has become one of the greatest assets to the anime community, with its compelling storyline and drop-dead gorgeous art. The anime is based on the manga of the same name written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. The manga won multiple awards, including the fifth Kyoto Animation Award’s novel category in 2014. It also became the first series to win prizes in the novel, manga, scenario and animation categories. Other awards include the 2019 Crunchyroll Anime Awards for the Best Animation category.
The show’s current status
Season 1 aired on January 11, 2018 and consisted of 13 episodes. A special episode was released on July 4, 2018 and a movie called Violet Evergarden: The Movie came out on September 18, 2020. From the looks of it, Kyoto Animation was looking to turn the second season into the movie, and chances of us getting another 13 episodes seems pretty low at the moment. Also, the manga has just four volumes, so unless they produce more, we won’t be getting any anime seasons.
The plot of the story follows a young girl named Violet who specialised in guerrilla warfare and was a valuable asset during the war. But during the war’s final days, an explosion blew both her arms away, and she was unable to protect Major Gilbert Bougainvillea, the one person who saw her as a human instead of a killing machine.

She was soon let go from the war, given prosthetic arms and given a job as an Auto Memory Doll, a job where you hire a trained woman to write letters on your behalf.
