Levius season 2: Has Netflix’s fighting anime been cancelled after one season?
Levius joins the list of Netflix’s fighting animes after Baki and Kengan Ashura
Netflix has sure gone all out on making fighting animes. Levius is the latest Netflix Original anime series that joins the likes of Baki and Kengan Ashura. The anime is based on the manga series of the same name by Haruhisa Nakata. Production was done by Polygon Pictures, who had previously worked on Knights of Sidonia and the animated trilogy of Godzilla.
The plot
Young Levius Cromwell lost his parents to war and goes to live with his uncle Zack. Under Zack’s watchful eye, Levius delves deep into the world of mechanical martial arts, a modern and more brutal sport that is held separate from the traditional fighting bouts. As Levius’s presence gets stronger after each fight, he draws the attention of stronger and more dangerous opponents.

This sounds quite similar to Megalo Box, which is another fighting anime that relies on gear to fight. However, the manga of Levius came out first while Megalo Box was released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a classic boxing series called Ashita no Joe.
Will there be a second season?

Currently the show’s status is pending. Netflix is known to take its time with animes and won’t immediately announce the next installment. Levius has been well received by the viewers so it won’t be surprising if a new season is announced soon.
That being said, does Levius need a second season? The first season covered a major portion of the manga but a lot of it has been cut as well. If they wanted to make another season, they could take material from Levius/est, the second manga. In case they do, they should use some of the parts they omitted so that the story gets more depth.
For now, a release date hasn’t been announced, so if it does, this article will be duly edited.
