Ready for round 3 at Moordale High?
Sex Education will be returning. The announcement of the insanely popular Netflix original was made almost one year ago by none other than Headmaster Groff (Alistair Petrie) and you can check it out below.
Speaking to Digital Spy, lead star Asa Butterfield said that he had read the first episode of season three and was “really happy” about what he’s read so far. He added that it didn’t go where he expected it to go, and that a few things have changed, for which he’s excited.
Season 3 release date
As of now, we do not have a release date and no further announcements regarding the series has been made. Seasons 1 and 2 premiered in January 2019 and ,2020 respectively, but at that time, there wasn’t a worldwide pandemic going on that was shutting down productions and forcing people to stay at home.
The story so far
In two seasons consisting of eight episodes each, we got to see multiple characters with their own individual storylines, all with their own interesting characteristics. Their struggles and anxieties will be explored further in season 3.
Ola and Otis started season 2 as a couple but later broke up, with Ola moving on with Lily, and Otis sending a voicemail to Maeve confessing his love for her after building up a lot of courage. But Maeve didn’t get to answer or hear it as she went out and her neighbour Isaac, who had feelings for Maeve, heard it and deleted the voicemail.
Director Ben Taylor revealed later that he had actually shot an ending where fans would’ve been able to see what they wanted, but went with this anyway, because we don’t want a happy ending just yet now, do we?
Therefore, we are expected to see more “Will they, won’t they” in season 3, but that is pretty interesting to watch, even though it can be anguishing sometimes.
