First look images from the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has been released
Prepare for Kombat starting April 16, 2021
Produced by New Line Cinema, the explosive new version of Mortal Kombat, inspired by the ever-popular video game franchise will be releasing on theatres and HBO Max on April 16. The last game, titled Mortal Kombat 11 released in 2020 and continues to bring out new updates and legendary Hollywood characters.

The movie will be directed by award-winning Australian commercial filmmaker Simon McQuoid, making this his feature directorial debut. The producers are James Wan (director of The Conjuring, Aquaman), Todd Garner (Into the Storm, Tag), along with McQuoid himself and E. Bennett Walsh (Men in Black: International, The Amazing Spider-Man 2).
The story
The story follows MMA fighter Cole Young, who is used to getting his butt kicked for money, who suddenly finds himself under the radar of Outworld’s emperor Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung sends his best warrior Sub-Zero, who is a cryomancer to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole follows the instructions of Jax to seek out Sonia Blade, a Special Forces Major who has the same dragon marking as he does.
Cole soon finds himself in the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and Earthrealm’s protector. Under Raiden’s watchful eye, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, who all had the mark. With them, Cole will be facing off against the enemies of Outworld in a battle for supremacy. Will Cold be able to unlock his arcana to protect all those he holds dear and stop Outworld once and for all?

The cast includes Lewis Tan as Cole, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.
