The movie has a stellar cast including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis

Jack Black becomes the latest addition to Lionsgate’s movie adaptation of Borderlands, a popular video game. Black joins other A-Listers Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Black will be voicing Claptrap, a robot whose sarcasm knows no bounds. Claptrap is constantly roasting whoever travels with him and doesn’t care if his teammates survive or not. The movie will be directed by Eli Roth, who directed the comedy The House With a Clock in Its Walls starring Black and Blanchett.

Roth spoke about his excitement in working with Black again, this time in a recording booth. He said that Claptrap is the funniest character in the game and Jack will be perfect in bringing him to the big screen.

Nathan Kahane, the president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group had a similar statement, that choosing Black for the role had been one of the biggest no-brainer casting decisions they’ve ever made. He added that anyone who has played the game knows that Jack will be perfect for the role, and that they’re thrilled in bringing his endless comic energy to their film.
