New Justice League teaser gives us a glimpse of Darkseid’s homeworld

The DC villain and his evil associates will be showing up in Zack Snyder’s movie

Zack Snyder’s Justice League has dropped a new teaser where they have shown a glimpse of one of the biggest baddies in the DC Universe, and set a premise for the battle that’s yet to come. Darkseid was mentioned by name in the theatrical cut of the movie released in 2017, but he will have a bigger presence in Snyder’s upcoming 4-hour cut. The scene promises Darkseid’s violent mission to dominate the world leading to the inevitable battle between him and the Earth’s mightiest.

Darkseid has been one of the most exciting parts of Snyder’s Justice League, and his removal from Joss Whedon’s theatrical cut disappointed the fans, as did the rest of the movie. It’s highly unlikely that Darkseid will be fighting the League towards the end, but some sort of interaction will be well-received.

The first we have seen of the ruthless alien invader was him plunging a weapon that looks like a spear or axe while his massive army surrounds him. A flag with his infamous omega symbol waves in the back. In the new teaser, we see Snyder’s version of Darkseid’s home planet Apokolips, and also see him next to his faithful followers DeSaad and Granny Goodness. Goodness is a member of the New Gods.

Origin story or preparing for Earth’s invasion?

Of that we are unsure at this point. It could be a brief flashback of Darkseid or it can be Steppenwolf’s time at Apokolips before leaving to invade Earth. We do know that Steppenwolf was sent by Darkseid since he underestimated the beings on Earth, and after Steppenwolf’s defeat, Darkseid decides to do things himself, similar to how Thanos appeared in Avengers: Infinity War.

In the four hours that Snyder has promised, we will be seeing all this unfold and it looks to be nothing like the two hours of disappointment that Whedon had dished out earlier.
