Get to know more about the actress through Audrey: More Than An Icon
A documentary based on iconic Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn will be coming to Netflix soon. Known as Audrey: More Than An Icon, it released on December 15, 2020 and will be making its way to Netflix US on March 14, 2021.
The documentary was made by Helena Coan (Chasing Perfect, Keepsake) and tells the story of the extraordinary actress. It’s produced by British production company Salon Pictures who recently backed Lioness for Amazon Prime Video, also directed by Coan. Their other productions include Churchill starring Brian Cox and a series for Sundance TV called The Night Caller.
The documentary is said to be an intimate look at Audrey Hepburn’s life, and shows never-before-seen footage from her family’s personal collection, and provides and unprecedented and insightful view on the actress, her life, her dreams, aspirations, and her everlasting legacy.
Aside from the archival footage, a few re-enactments of Hepburn dancing will be done by professional ballet dancer Francesca Hayward. Currently, only Netflix US will be getting the documentary while it shows no release date in other regions.
There aren’t many reviews available currently, but the documentary got a 7.3 on IMDb. Critics seem to have loved the documentary with the Telegraph saying it “leaves you itching to read a meaty biography” and Leslie Felperin from The Hollywood Reporter saying that “Even if you watch it alone on a laptop with a bottle of cheap beer and a dried-up turkey sandwich, Audrey is a pleasure. That’s mostly due to the still-incandescent star power of its subject.”
Unfortunately, we have no other Audrey Hepburn titles to watch on Netflix. It briefly had Breakfast at Tiffany’s in the US but currently most of her movies are on Video On Demand platforms.
