Page joins Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith
Regé-Jean Page is one of the breakout stars of the year after starring in Netflix’s Bridgerton.
Following that, Page has just finalised a deal for a leading role in Paramount’s Dungeons & Dragons, joining a stellar cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith. The movie will be directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the duo behind 2018’s Game Night. The movie will be based on the popular fantasy role playing game from Wizards of the Coast and the director duo have also written the latest version of the script from a previous draft by Michael Gilio.
What the game is about
Dungeons & Dragons is a game about war, treasure hunting, campaigns, camaraderie and reversals of fortune, and the characters include humans, elves, orcs, and numerous other mythical creatures. It uses multisided dice and the gameplay is overseen by a host called the Dungeon Master, who will also be speaking about the events and how the story moves forward. As of now, it’s not been revealed if the movie will be a straight-up fantasy film, or of it will have storytelling or game-playing aspects.
The movie is produced by Jeremy Latcham through his deal with Studio eOne, the entertainment branch of Hasbro. It will also be produced by Hasbro’s Brian Goldner.
Page’s new chapter
Page will be hostinf Saturday Night Live this weekend, after his role as the beloved Duke of Hastings in the Shonda Rhimes-produced drama made him one of the most talked-about stars in the industry, similar to his co-star Phoebe Dynevor. Bridgerton has been watched by more than 82 million accounts in its first month, making it Netflix’s biggest series ever.
Page’s other roles include Mortal Engines and the period romantic drama Sylvie’s Love.
