Some delays may have happened, but the series is returning

Love Alarm is a Netflix Original romantic comedy series based on the webtoon of the same name by author Chon Kye-Young. Love Alarm is also the fourth Korean Original series by Netflix but is actually the first one that was ordered.

The story discusses how love happens in an extremely digitalised age, and how an unknown developer makes a dating app that becomes popular all over South Korea. The app alerts the user if someone within ten feet of them has romantic feelings for them, and Kim Jo-Jo happens to be one of them. This greatly disrupts her life and Jo-Jo soon finds herself caught in a love triangle between Lee Hye-Yeong and his best friend Hwang Sun-oh.

The reason for the delayed arrival is of course due to COVID-19. The series was to return on August 22, 2020, exactly one year after the first season aired, but got a massive delay, and will be releasing globally on March 12, 2021.

We got to know that a second season of Love Alarm will be happening after the cast reunited for a script read in early 2020. Filming started a while after and was reportedly finished by June 15, 2020.

Towards the end of the season the Love Alarm app got an update for its 2.0 version. Now it has moved on from detecting if someone has romantic feelings for them and can tell straight away if someone within 10 metres is in love with them.

As the update was going live, Jo-Jo finds out that not only does Lee Hye-Young love her but also Hwang Sun-oh. This was determined by the app when both men were within the 10 metre radius.

Jo-Jo must now decide who she should reciprocate her feelings for.
