Recently, a rating for The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles has been spotted for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
It was spotted by Gematsu who saw that the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated the unannounced game with its English title, which suggested that the English localisation had been completed and the game will be released soon.
The Capcom data breach
The two games within The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles are The Great Ace Attorney (2015) and The Great Ace Attorney 2 (2017) which got leaked during the infamous Capcom Data Breach in November 2020. The two games were only released in Japan.
The game’s are a spin-off series taking place in the late 1800s (the Meiji Period in Japan and the Victorian Era in England). The lead is Ryūnosuke Naruhodō, an English student at Teito Yūmei University and an ancestor of the other Ace Attorney series protagonist Phoenix Wright. Ryūnosuke journeys to England and meets up with Sherlock Holmes in the game.
The games are visual novels where you will have to solve crimes and had been widely popular since it’s release in 2001. There are six mainline games in the franchise and five spin-off titles. The series has become other sources of media, such as a manga series, two anime seasons, a live-action film, and also a stage show.
The other games
The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee had been a bit careless evidently, as there had been reports of a rating for the Nintendo Switch version of Borderlands. The game had been recently announced to re-release only on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Other mentions were of a native PlayStation 5 version of Genshin Impact, a Nintendo Switch version of Secret Neighbour, which is a multiplayer spin-off of the horror game Hello Neighbour, and a version of 2020’s off- roading SnowRunner for Nintendo Switch.
