Which story will Netflix adapt for the third season of The Haunting anthology?
Luckily, there are many haunted house stories for Mike Flanagan to adapt
Netflix Original series The Haunting of Hill House was a big success when it came out two years ago, while it’s follow-up, The Haunting of Bly Manor didnt really live up to its mark. But audiences are still ready for more from the anthology series. While the story and house is different, most of the characters are played by the same actors from Hill House.

The two series have one thing in common: They are both loose adaptations of already existing famous ghost stories, Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House and Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw. While speaking to Vanity Fair, the creator Mike Flanagan said that The Haunting series at its core is about haunted spaces and haunted people, and that’s something that they’re likely to continue in future seasons.
Season 3 updates
For now Netflix hasn’t announced a third season, but that’s nothing to be worried about as it waits a while to see the viewing numbers. For example, The Haunting of Hill House came out in October 2018 and The Haunting of Bly Manor wasn’t announced until February 2019. While it’s February, it can take longer as any new production will have to take the pandemic into consideration.
Season 3 story details
We know that they will be loosely adapting another famous ghost story, and will expand on that so that equal attention will be brought to the living characters as the ghosts. There are numerous ghost stories to adapt, so where they need to focus on will be a story that not many know of, so that it will have a fresh look to it. It can either focus on one story, or a collection of stories like how they made Bly Manor.
Either way, we can expect an announcement in the coming months.
