What lesson did Godzilla Vs. Kong take from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

There is high possibility that the two titans will team up in the end

Team-up movies are a hard thing to do, despite movies like The Avengers make it look effortless. You will have to do the right kind of service to the story, as well as to the fans without overdoing things. Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard understands that very well, and he’s bringing these two titans into a showdown of the century. When he was given the task of pushing the MonsterVerse forward, he took an important lesson from Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Wingard’s vision

This was a lesson that even the classic Japanese Godzilla movies never failed to miss – that in order to create a fight night, you need to make sure there are proper stakes surrounding the two combatants.

In a recent virtual roundtable on behalf of CinemaBlend, Wingard spoke about Godzilla Vs. Kong, and his approach to the movie was indeed, very clear. As a fan of sequels himself, Wingard included some of the most revered titles in the two characters’ lore into the movie. As for what he needed to avoid in the movie, Wingard had a clear vision that both Godzilla and Kong needed to be grounded in a certain way before they fought.

Wingard said that Godzilla was the same old Titan he was, but Kong was someone entirely new. Just like how Ben Affleck’s new Batman came to be. You get the idea that they are restarting Batman after Christian Bale’s performance. Where Snyder made an error was rushing that big match-up between Batman and Superman.

He wanted Kong to be the same he had been in Skull Island, but now a veteran fighter. They were able to establish his growth as well, since Skull Island took place in 1973. Meanwhile Godzilla is the same as the 2019 King of Monsters film. With this, Wingard feels like the movie would serve as a sequel and team-up film.
