Last Thursday, we got to see the red band trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ Mortal Kombat reboot. The movie was greatly anticipated and that was clear when it resulted in a record number of watchers making it the most viewed red band trailer of all time!

The film’s official Twitter account announced this great achievement with a new video showing fans react to all the scenes in the trailer, and with the film ready to release in less than a month on theatres and on HBO Max, the hype among fans will only begin increasing.

When the reboot was first announced, fans were skeptical because why shouldn’t they be? Pretty much all video game adaptations had failed to live up to its source material, with Netflix’s The Witcher being an exception. Also, the last Mortal Kombat movie, titled Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997 bombed a great deal at the box office. While a good trailer doesn’t necessarily make the movie good, but it does well for Warner Bros. Pictures since more people will be watching the movie thanks to the trailer becoming a hit.

Making it Rated-R

Mortal Kombat is an arcade gaming franchise that is renowned for its blood and gore. There’s not a single game where organs aren’t ripped out and people die in the most horrible way possible. But the 1995 movie, as beloved as it was, got a PG-13 rating and didn’t go all out in violence. But the reboot guarantees to be a much bloodier experience since we got to see limbs flying, organs getting ripped out, and frozen daggers made from blood, so it’s clear that they’re sticking to the gruesome games.

The movie comes out in April 16. Make sure not to miss it!
