Everything We Know About “Cobra Kai” Season 5
If you still have any doubts that the 5th season of “ Cobra Kai ” will happen, don't worry. It's not only confirmed, it's already been fully recorded, even before season 4 hit Netflix .
But that doesn't mean that all the information about the fifth chapter of this adventure full of martial arts is available out there. So let's bring together everything we know about the upcoming season of “Cobra Kai” in one place.
The information is littered with spoilers from Season 4 so if you haven't seen it yet, keep an eye out to not catch any.
Release date of
The 5th season of “Cobra Kai” has already finished recording in December, as confirmed by actor William Zabka on his Instagram, but it still doesn't have a confirmed release date.
But using the logic that season 4 arrived on December 31, 2021 and season 3 on January 1, 2021, we can perhaps expect the pattern to repeat and the new season to arrive between December 2022 and January 2023.
But, as the material is already all in the hands of post-production, one can hope for a release date closer than that.
And the cast?
Nothing has been confirmed when it comes to the cast of "Cobra Kai" season 5, but some characters are more likely to come back than others. Leading characters Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) and William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) are sure to be back, and Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso) and Vanessa Rubio (Carmen Diaz) are almost certain to return in Season 5 as well.
Other almost certain returns are those of Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver) and Martin Kove, and the final moments of Season 4 indicated the surprise return of Yuji Okumoto, who returns after showing up in Season 3 of “Cobra Kai,” repeating his role as Chozen, in “ Karate Kid – The Hour of Truth Continues”.
Hopefully, the younger cast is expected to return Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni DeCenzo (Demetri Alexopoulos) , Peyton List (Tory Nichols), Joe Seo (Kyler Park), Selah Austria (Piper), Khalil Everage (Chris), Aedin Mincks (Mitch), Hannah Kepple (Moon), Owen Morgan (Bert) and Nathaniel Oh (Nate) .
Other likely returns are Griffin Santopietro (Anthony LaRusso), Dallas Young (Kenny Payne) and Oona O'Brien (Devon).
On the other hand, it is still uncertain whether Paul Walter Hauser will return as Stingray.
The plot
Season 4 brought a lot of changes to "Cobra Kai", so it's likely that season 5 will see the consequences of those changes. As the combined forces of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang weren't enough to defeat the Cobra Kais in the All Valley, we can expect Terry Silver to open new dojos, which will make the battle against the Cobra Kais even more difficult next season.
Daniel LaRusso agreed not to practice karate any more if Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang together failed to win the tournament, but remains motivated to take down Cobra Kai, this time with the help of Chozen, from whom we can expect new tricks in the future, and this partnership could make life difficult for Silve and the Cobra Kais.
Anyone who's seen season 4 knows that John Kreese is out of action for now, after being arrested over a set-up by Silver, who framed him for the assault he himself committed against Stingray. It's not certain that he's totally out of the loop, but he's going to have to overcome the prison hurdle before returning. It remains to be seen how he will deal with the betrayal he has suffered.
Johnny, on the other hand, is on Miguel Diaz's tail, which should take the characters to Mexico, where Miguel looks for his father. But as he tries to make peace with Miguel, Johnny has been building a relationship with his son, Robby Keene, who could potentially accompany his father to Mexico, which could lead to a triple reckoning.
As for the students, things are more uncertain. It's safe to say that Miyagi-Do kids will continue to honor their karate skills, as Daniel LaRusso has no intentions of closing the dojo. With Johnny in Mexico, you'd think Eagle Fang students will continue to train at Miyagi-Do, at least for the beginning of the season. If any of the students will decide to leave karate due to the Cobra Kai agreement, we still have no way of knowing.
The Cobra Kai are booming, though it looks like they might lose some students next season, with Robby wanting to leave and tournament champion Tory Nichols overhearing a conversation that proved it was all a setup to favor the Cobra Kai, the which could lead her to leave the dojo, even more so if she and Amanda LaRusso continue to bond next season.

Season 5 will be the last
Although there is no confirmation of a potential season 6, series creators Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz have already made it clear that they plan more stories beyond season 5 of "Cobra Kai". We even talk about it here .
“This has changed a few times, but at the same time it hasn't,” Heald commented in an interview with Collider. “We still have a final plan. We're still writing beyond Season 5. But it's been fun to bring in these new characters and narratives and let them dictate the way sometimes.”
"We never said from the start how many seasons it would be," added Hurwitz. "I think we've always seen this as at least six in our minds, but we're still figuring out exactly how long."
For all that, it's still unclear whether "Cobra Kai" will continue beyond season 5, but with all the success the series has been finding on Netflix, you'd imagine this won't be the last chapter.
The 4 seasons of “Cobra Kai” are available on the “ Netflix ” streaming service.
