Samsung and Qualcomm Achieve 8Gbps Download on 5G

Samsung and Qualcomm set a new record in 5G download speeds, reaching 8.08 Gbps . This result demonstrates a significant leap in technology, which previously peaked at 5.23 Gbps — also in Samsung's experience in March 2021.

The test was carried out in partnership using the experimental Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF system in the Plano lab in Texas, which offers ideal conditions such as fully virtualized RAN and Core, mmWave 5G Compact Macro and Massive MIMO radio. In October, the two companies also achieved 711 Mbps upload with the technology .

The trajectory of these results goes back to 2018, when it reached 1.7 Gbps , followed by 2.65 Gbps in 2019 and 4.3 Gbps in 2020. Therefore, over the next few years, we should see even better values with the improvement of the network.
