TRUTH Social: Donald Trump's social network due to launch in February
In October former President Donald Trump announced the launch of his own social network called 'TRUTH Social'. The politician and businessman decided to create his own platform after being banned from Twitter in January 2021, after the invasion of the US Capitol on the day of certification of Joe Biden's victory.
Recently, the App Store – iOS device app store – listed the social network being developed by Trump Media and Technology Group. According to The Verge portal, Trump's social network should be launched on February 21, the day theUnited States celebrates President's Day.
- Similar to TikTok, Twitter incorporates video and photo reactions for tweets
- Google develops practicality when integrating Windows with Android
- Facebook had more than 650,000 posts attacking elections before capitol invasion
In the description of the App Store, the platform makes it clear that it is an environment geared towards different people, accepting opposing viewpoints and ideologies without any problem, a clear nudge against Trump's ban on other platforms on the market.
Apparently, TRUTH Social will be a lot like Twitter itself. According to the images posted, it is possible to share, respond to and favorite messages published by other users, who were named “truths” (truths).
“I created TRUTH Social and TMGT to stand up to Big Tech's tyranny,” explained Trump through his platform's announcement statement. According to him, “we live in a world where the Taliban is present on Twitter, but their favorite American president has been silenced. Additionally, Trump said he was excited to share his days on the new social network .
TRUTH Social has had its own controversy, being accused of having stolen the source code of a platform called Mastodon. The platform is open source – with open source code, but it requires that due credit be given in case of use.
