Coronavirus: São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro postpone carnival parades to April
Last Friday (21), the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes and the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, chose to postpone the samba school parades to April 21, Tiradentes' holiday. The decision was made in a virtual meeting.
Also participating in the meeting were the Rio de Janeiro Health Secretary, Daniel Soranz, the São Paulo Health Secretary, Edson Aparecido, and the presidents of the Samba School Leagues of both capitals.
In early January, the city of Rio de Janeiro chose to cancel the street carnival. The next day, it was the turn of the city of São Paulo to make the same decision.
