Apple extends deadline for groups and events to use alternative payment methods on the App Store
After announcing changes to App Store taxation in some countries, Apple has now decided to extend the deadline for online event and group apps to use their own payment methods to avoid paying app store fees, which range from 15% to 30%.
This option to use alternative means of payment was introduced by Apple in September 2020. At the time, it clarified that apps used by two people for medical appointments or real estate tours could use other forms of payment, which was expanded in November of the same year, this time including apps used in virtual events.
In this way, it made it much easier for companies and groups to hold virtual events during the coronavirus pandemic without exposing their employees to the risks of contamination, let alone paying commissions to Apple until December 31, 2021.
