Cadillac reveals first images of Escalade V-Series
Cadillac has revealed the first images of its new sports SUV, the Escalade V-Series. The model will be the first to boast the “V” line and should hit the market with a powerful super-compressed 6.2 V8, the same one that powers the CT5-V Blackwing sedan. Full technical details will be released in the second quarter.
Visually, the revamped Escalade comes with a heavily revised front bumper compared to the reference versions. At the bottom, for example, is a more robust grille flanked by LED lights that resemble ventilation ducts. In the rear region, the quad exhaust and the false diffuser are the main improvements.
Still on the visual aspect, there is a prominent “V” lettering on the rear and front doors, while in the single image inside, it is also possible to see the lettering at the base of the steering wheel.
Cadillac also released a short video where you can hear the super-compressed V8 6.2 of the Escalade V-Series. According to information from Car and Driver magazine, the engine should maintain a power advantage compared to other Escalades, but with a lower rpm than the CT5-V Blackwing, around 6,200 rpm – that is, 300 less than the sedan.
Latest petrol V-Series model
Unless Cadillac wants to make V-Series versions of the XT models, this Escalade is likely to be the last gas-powered car in its class. Even because the American automaker is already preparing an electric version of the SUV, which will have the same base as the GMC Hummer EV and the new Chevrolet Silverado.
Cadillac's V-Series line was created in 2003 as a division specifically for high-performance cars. The letter “V” was chosen to designate the class as an homage to post-World War II Cadillacs that featured a V-shaped ornament below the crown-shaped logo. Most V-Series come with a high-performance V8 engine, revised suspension and transmission, aerodynamics and more aggressive bodywork to differentiate them from standard production.
