Intel Warns of Overclocking Risks on Non-K 12th Gen CPUs Alder Lake
Users of non-K Alder Lake Intel CPUs are supposed to be able to overclock the component if they pair it with the right motherboard. However, the chipmaker is not happy with this.
Intel said in an interview with Tom's Hardware that non-K-line 12th-gen processors were not designed for the overclocking procedure, adding that the company does not guarantee that these chips will work beyond their specifications.
Intel further noted that changing the clock frequency or voltage can damage or shorten the life of the CPU and other components, as well as reduce system stability and performance.
