The company added that the new versions will “support 4K resolution, FPS 60, improvements in textures and draw distances, HDR and raytracing options”. They will also support the technological advances of the latest console generation, offering faster updates and immersive 3D audio capabilities.
Rockstar also said that for PS4 and Xbox One players, it will be possible to perform a one-time migration of the game's progress, as well as the story mode. The option will be available from launch day.
Details on whether the upgrade will be paid or free were not disclosed.
