Meet the Chevrolet Silverado that turned into a 10-wheel V8 monster with 1,425 horsepower
If the reader was stunned by the insane triple-axle Fox, it's because they haven't seen the pickup for sale on the Gateway Classic Cars website. A 10-wheel Chevrolet Silverado with a Cadillac front, dual rear axles and a V8 biturbo with over 1,000 horsepower. All for the trifle of US$ 65 thousand — approximately R$ 345 thousand, in direct conversion.
Originally, the 10-wheel Silverado was a 1st generation, 2004 line-up pickup. It served as a cargo transport for a California auto parts company, Specter.
At some point, though, the truck turned into an experiment resort. The front end was then replaced by a Cadillac Escalade, the interior lined with leather and Kenwood sound system and the entire suspension replaced by air bags. In addition, 22-inch Brentz wheels and a V8 built from a gargantuan 8.2-liter block – also extracted from a Cadillac – were included.
Subsequently, the Silverado's powerplant was expanded to a larger 8.7-liter block and fitted with a pair of Garrett turbochargers. Together, the turbos produce 1,425 horsepower and 231 Nm of torque — almost as much horsepower as a Bugatti Chiron.
The rear axles — both in dual configuration, four wheels on each side — are connected to the engine via an Alisson 5-speed automatic transmission. To accommodate all that weight, the fender also had to be lengthened, as did the wheel spacing.
Changes in the internal space
But the reforms were not limited to the structural aspect. Silverado also underwent an extensive renovation in the interior space. The owner replaced the original seats with cream leather seats, and a custom set of gauges was fitted to the dash to track the turbocharger dynamics.
The pickup also has air suspension, that is, the driver lifts or squats the body through these bags mounted on the vehicle's axle.
It is not possible to give too many details about the front axle because the seller did not include pictures of the underside of the 10-wheel Silverado. There's also no mention of the 4×4 lever in the cabin, so most likely the pickup is rear-wheel drive only. In any case, the model does not fail to impress with its voluptuousness both in terms of power and appearance.
