Tom Holland wants Andrew Garfield to return for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3”

As well as Andrew Garfield's legion of fans, Tom Holland, the third generation of Spider-Man and who is at the top of the box office with "Spider-Man: No Return Home", said in an interview with Comic Book that he would also like to see the actor's return as the hero in "The Amazing Spider-Man 3".

"I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3. I think it was so wonderful how Andrew was able to make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to win back the general public," Holland said.

Garfield and Holland starred in the third and final film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) trilogy in December of last year. Along with them was Tobey Maguire, the first Spider-Man on the big screen. The meeting, the result of the mix of Marvel's multiverses, was a milestone for three generations of fans, as well as for the movie industry, as the film continues to rank at the world box office and breaks records – being responsible, even, for leveraging the Sony Group's quarterly net profit.

The resurgence of Garfield as the Spider touched the hearts of even those who weren't a fan of the actor in the character's skin. That's because he was the only one who didn't have his full trilogy sequel, working only on 2012's "The Amazing Spider-Man" and 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2: The Menace of Electro".

“That scene where he saved Zendaya, as the fan reactions in the cinema were so spectacular,” added Holland, referring to the scene where Garfield catches MJ (Zendaya) falling — alluding to a moment in “The Amazing Man- Spider 2” when Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) falls and dies. “Should Sony decide to do this? They would have my full support and obviously Andrew would too.”

Andrew has already clearly shown his willingness to return to the superhero character, even suggesting a confrontation with “Venom”. “In terms of moving forward with the character, I'm definitely open to that. It would have to be something very unique, very special, and that would serve the audience and the character. I think there's something playful and unique and weird and unexpected to be done. I'm not sure what it is, but if we can find out, it would be a lot of fun," Garfield recently told the Happy Sad Confused Podcast .

The post-credits scene of “No Homecoming”, when Venom is transported to another multiverse by accident and leaves a part of himself behind, leaves the door open to several possibilities – which excited fans, who continue to speculate.

On another occasion, even with the end of Holland's trilogy and with many contradictions and little information about a "Spider-Man 4", he revealed that there are still possibilities for a new meeting between the three generations of the hero.

“It was one of those things, an idea that we had for a long time and that always seemed impossible. [A new reunion] can happen? Of course it can roll. We've already done it a first time. [but if] will it happen? I don't know," he told Variety .
