On June 9, 2017, Williams was travelling in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, when her SUV was struck by a car before she made it across the crossing. The tragedy claimed the life of a 78-year-old man and injured another driver in the other vehicle.
Initially, police stated that Venus was at fault for the accident; however, after analysing security video, authorities found that Venus was not at fault. Venus began her #CoachVenus workouts on Instagram Live in 2020 to earn money for the Equal Justice Initiative.
