Additionally, Buss was a skilled poker player who competed on a professional level. Dr Jerry Buss died on February 18, 2013, at a Los Angeles hospital after a long fight with cancer. He had been battling the disease for several years. He is survived by six children, all of them are active members of the Los Angeles Lakers organisation.
