Cobra Kai Season 4- Plot!
Johnny Lawrence, now in his 50s, works as a part-time handyman and lives in an apartment in Reseda, Los Angeles, 34 years after being defeated by Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament.
He has fallen far from the wealthy Encino lifestyle he was accustomed to growing up due to depression and alcoholism after being traumatised by Kreese’s assault against him (from The Karate Kid Part II).
From a prior relationship, he has a son named Robby, whom he abandoned after his birth. A down-and-out Johnny uses karate to defend his new young neighbour Miguel Diaz from a group of bullies after losing his job due to an argument with one of his clients.
Johnny agrees to teach Miguel karate and reopens the Cobra Kai karate dojo as a way to relive his past; however, this act reignites his rivalry with Daniel, who was a two-time All Valley champion (in 1984 and 1985) and is now the owner of a highly successful car dealership chain, married to co-owner Amanda, and has two children: Samantha and Anthony.
Daniel is now living the affluent lifestyle he yearned for as a child in Reseda. Daniel’s failure to properly connect with his children has broken the equilibrium in his life since his buddy and mentor, Mr Miyagi, died.
Meanwhile, his other source of support, Lucille, has a tumultuous relationship with Amanda. Johnny’s dojo attracts a group of mistreated social outcasts who find camaraderie and self-confidence under his guidance, in stark contrast to the type of students Johnny and his pals were when they were training at John Kreese’s original Cobra Kai.
Johnny has a bond with Miguel that is reminiscent of Daniel’s relationship with Mr Miyagi. Cobra Kai’s doctrine, on the other hand, has mostly remained unchanged, but Johnny attempts to infuse it with more dignity than Kreese did.
As a result, Miguel grows into a totally different type of student than Daniel or even Johnny, and he starts dating Samantha. Robby convinces Amanda to recruit him for a job at the LaRusso Auto dealership as a form of retaliation against his divorced father and forms a close bond with Daniel, who is initially unaware of Robby’s parentage.
He even studies Mr Miyagi’s brand of Karate alongside Daniel, and following Samantha’s separation from Miguel, he befriends and eventually starts dating her. Along with some Cobra Kai defectors, she finally joins her father’s dojo.
Miguel later begins dating Tory Nichols, a new Cobra Kai student who becomes Sam’s arch-rival.
The unexpected emergence of Kreese, who wishes to return Cobra Kai to its previous vicious form while inciting further violence amongst the rival dojos, puts Johnny’s efforts to restore Cobra Kai in jeopardy.
The plot concentrates around these central relationships, which lead to difficulties that are eventually caused by Daniel and Johnny’s reluctance to let go of the past.
