Da Brat’s first album, “Funkdafied,” was produced by Dupri and went platinum, reaching number two on the R&B charts and spending over three months at the top of the rap singles chart.

She returned to the R&B Top Five and the pop Top 20 with the songs “Sittin’ on Top of the World” and “Ghetto Love,” which featured T-Boz from TLC.

During this time, she had high-profile cameo appearances on the albums of Mariah Carey (on a remix of her smash “Always Be My Baby”), Missy Eliot, Dru Hill, and Lil’ Kim, to name a few.

Da Brat became known for her featured appearances on other rappers’ albums than her soo work for the rest of the 1990s. She co-wrote the title tune for Kriss Kross’ albums “Da Bomb” and “Young, Rich, and Dangerous.”
