Katori Hall created the American drama television series P-Valley. The series is based on Hall’s play Pussy Valley and follows a group of people who work at a Mississippi Delta strip joint.
Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, and Elarica Johnson star in the film. It aired on Starz on July 12, 2020, and two weeks later, it was renewed for a second season.
We’ve started gathering information about what viewers may expect when the show returns as we excitedly await the second season. Here’s all we know about Season 2 of “P-Valley.”
P-Valley Season 2- Cast!
While the debut date for Season 2 of “P-Valley” is still unknown, fans do know who they can expect to see when the show returns.
Nicco Annan, Brandee Evans, Elarica Johnson, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Shannon Thornton, Harriet D. Foy, Dan J. Johnson, Parker Sawyers, and Tyler Lepley are all returning to reprise their Season 1 roles, as confirmed by Starz in February.
Morocco Omari, Dominic Devore, and Jordan M. Cox are all slated to return for the show’s second season and have even been promoted to series regulars. Season 2 of “P-Valley” will also include a few new characters.
Psalms Salazar will play Whisper, a dancer described as an “enigmatic free spirit with a scary edge” in the next season (via Deadline).
Gail Bean will also appear in Season 2 of “P-Valley” as Roulette, another new dancer who is a “feisty wild child” who isn’t afraid to “take enormous chances and breach allllll of Uncle Clifford’s laws.”
When “P-Valley” returns to Starz after a long hiatus, fans can expect to watch how the show’s new and returning characters deal with the aftermath of the first season.
P-Valley Season 2- Plot!
The first season of “P-Valley” ended with Hailey (Elarica Johnson) saving The Pynk from being purchased by casino developers after she stole money from her abusive ex-boyfriend Montavius (Cranston Johnson).
While we still don’t have a trailer for “P-Valley” Season 2, Katori Hall spoke with Entertainment Weekly in September 2020 about the show’s Season 1 finale and gave some hints about what to expect when “P-Valley” returns, including how Hailey becoming a part-owner of the club will drastically change things.
“She walked in and got her a– smacked on the dance floor, and now she owns a piece of the club. The club’s power dynamics have shifted dramatically “Hall said.
“It will be the stuff of legends to see Uncle Clifford and Hailey struggle for the kingdom.” Hall also announced in February that “P-Valley” Season 2 will begin five months after the events of Season 1’s finale (via Starz).
In addition, Hall announced that the show’s second season will include a storyline based on the real-life COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, Hall hinted that the season will focus on how the epidemic affects the show’s major characters’ business dealings and jobs.
“Unfortunately, the pandemic has arrived and turned everything upside down, simply because this is a gathering-based company.
It’s a business built on trust “Hall remarked. “It’ll be fascinating to see how Uncle Clifford and his new boss, b**** Autumn Night, cope with this enormous stumbling block.
So they’ve got a lot of s*** to deal with between the casino and COVID-19.” To put it another way, it appears that “P-Valley” fans have a lot to look forward to in the show’s second season, and we can’t wait to see how it all pans out.
P-Valley Season 2 – Release Date!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “P-Valley” premiered on Starz in July 2020 with an eight-episode first season and was soon renewed for a 10-episode second season.
At the time, Christina Davis, president of original programming for Starz, said, “Katori [Hall] has delivered a provocative drama that looks beyond the glitz and into the hearts and minds of these fully realised and compelling characters, exploring them through a female gaze that invites the audience to walk in their stilettos.” “We know Katori has a lot of wonderful stories to share and a lot in store for these women in a second season,” says the executive producer.
Unfortunately, while the show’s renewal was swift, we still have no idea when Season 2 of “P-Valley” will premiere.
Hall mentioned that the pandemic was limiting the creative team’s capacity to work on the series during a Twitter Q&A in September 2020.
“With COVID-19 still making shooting difficult, it will take some time to get ready for production,” she added, vowing to keep fans updated.
Starz produced a special behind-the-scenes set film from the show’s second season in February of this year.
Unfortunately, Hall did not reveal a definite debut date for Season 2 of “P-Valley” in the video.
The season is slated to air this year (via The Playlist), and the show will return on 4 September 2022, according to Commercial Appeal. Fans will have to wait for an official statement from Starz for the time being.
