Richard Williams Early Life!
Richard Dove Williams Jr. was born on February 14, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Richard eventually relocated to California after graduating from high school.

Richard met Betty Johnson not long after relocating to California. They tied the knot in 1965.
Before divorcing in 1973, Richard and Betty had five children. Sabrina, Richard III, Ronner, Reluss, and Reneeka were the youngsters in question.
After Richard and Betty split, Betty’s daughter Katrina from a previous relationship stepped in to help raise the children.
Richard met Oracene Price, sometimes known as “Brandy,” in 1979. From a previous marriage to a guy who died, Brandy had two daughters.
Richard and Brandy married in 1980. Richard worked as a security guard and Brandy as a nurse. Venus, born on June 17, 1980, and Serena, born on September 26, 1981, were their two daughters.
In Compton, California, Brandy and Richard raised their family. In the year 2002, they divorced.
Next, Richard began dating Lakeisha Juanita Graham, the owner of a neighbourhood grocery business. Lakeisha was only a year older than Venus, so this raised some concerns.

Richard was channel surfing after relocating to Long Beach, California when he came across the 1978 French Open.
Virginia Ruzici of Poland won the women’s singles competition in the end. Richard wasn’t very interested in tennis; what drew his attention was Ruzici’s $40,000 first-place award.
After adjusting for inflation, that equates to about $170,000 in today’s money. Richard made the decision right there and then that his daughters Venus and Serena would be tennis stars.
He even wrote an 85-page game plan to turn his girls into the top tennis players on the planet. When his girls were children in the 1980s, he began taking them to public tennis courts to play tennis. They would practise from 6 a.m. till dusk on occasion.
The family relocated from California to Brandy’s birthplace of Saginaw, Michigan, after Venus was born. They returned to California in 1981, this time settling in the dangerous Compton neighbourhood.
The family relocated to Palm Beach, Florida in 1991 so that the daughters could train full-time away from Compton’s violence. Rick Macci, a local coach in Florida, saw the girls’ potential and began professionally training them.
Venus Williams began her professional career when she was 14 years old, in 1994. Serena turned professional the next year.
At the Australian Open in 1998, the sisters notably squared off in their first big professional match. Serena was 16 and Venus was 17. Venus was victorious in straight sets.
Serena Williams won the US Open at the age of 18 in 1999. Venus won Wimbledon at the age of 20 in 2000. Richard may be heard shouting “Straight outta Compton!” from the stands as Venus won Wimbledon, a reference to the song by the rap group N.W.A., who was also from Compton.
Venus and Serena Williams, as we all know, went on to dominate the professional women’s tennis circuit for many years, winning big events on a regular basis.
He was their coach for much of the late 1990s and early 2000s, however, they have since moved on to new coaches. Richard can now be seen cheering them on from the stands on a daily basis.

Richard co-authored the book “Black and White: The Way I See It” in 2014. He focuses on photography while he is not following his children’s tennis careers.
Richard Williams Biopic!
Warner Bros. Pictures released “King Richard,” a biographical film about Richard, in November 2021. Will Smith portrays him in the film.
