Christopher Julius Rock (born February 7, 1965) is an actor, writer, producer, and film director from the United States.
Rock plays a role as a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1990 to 1993 after years as a stand-up comedian and minor film appearances such as Beverly Hills Cop II.
He acted in the films New Jack City, Boomerang, and CB4 while on Saturday Night Live, which Rock also created and produced.
The critically praised Bring the Pain, the second of Rock’s five HBO comedy specials, catapulted him into a mainstream celebrity in 1996.
Bigger & Blacker, Never Scared, and Kill the Messenger are among his other HBO comedy specials. His chat show, The Chris Rock Show, was also broadcast on HBO and received critical acclaim for Rock’s conversations with celebrities and politicians.
