After graduating from high school, he briefly attended Drew University before dropping out to pursue an acting career. With “Cash Crop,” he got more movie parts.

James auditioned for “Dawson’s Creek” in 1997 and was cast in a prominent part in the pilot. The pilot was approved, and it was a huge hit for six seasons.
