David Eric Grohl (born January 14, 1969) is a musician, composer, and record producer from the United States. He is the singer, guitarist, and major composer for Foo Fighters, for whom he founded the band.
From 1990 through 1994, he was Nirvana’s drummer. After the departure of their drummer Kent Stax, Grohl joined the punk rock band Scream at the age of 17.
After Scream disbanded in 1990, he joined Nirvana as their drummer. Nevermind (1991), Nirvana’s second album, was the first to feature Grohl on drums and was a worldwide triumph.
Grohl established Foo Fighters as a one-man project after Nirvana split in April 1994 following the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain.
The first Foo Fighters album was released in 1995, and a full band was formed to tour and record under the Foo Fighters brand; eight studio albums have been produced.
