According to TMZ, the two had been friends “for years,” thus Drake introducing Swift to his mother was merely a nice gesture (which is understandable; parents love Taylor Swift, so why wouldn’t Drake?) But how long will it take? What year did that friendship start?
We know they’ve known each other since at least 2013, thanks to the famed hug and hand-hold chat between a beardless Aubrey and T. Swift at the 2013 Video Music Awards, but there aren’t any images of the two of them together since then.

There is evidence that they met in 2010, perhaps maybe earlier. Drake stated in a 2010 interview with Extra that he would be “down” to collaborate with Swift. “Seeing her in person is always wonderful for me,” he remarked of Swift’s performance at the Grammy Awards in 2010.
“I simply have this small thing with her; I adore her entire being. I’m excited about her career, and I’m excited to wear my T-shirt tonight.” Drake did, in fact, purchase a Taylor Swift t-shirt. That does not necessarily imply that they met that night.
Swift did, however, fall off a treadmill to Drake’s “Jumpman” in an Apple Music promo, which increased iTunes sales of the song by 431 percent, according to Complex. However, their partnerships have ended there. At least for the time being…
