Early Life
A mail-room clerk named Lucille Murray (née Collins; 1921–1988) and a timber salesman named Edward Joseph Murray II (b. 1921) raised Murray in Evanston, Illinois. He was born and reared in Wilmette, a suburb of Chicago in the north.
As a child, Murray and his eight siblings were raised in an Irish Catholic household. His paternal grandparents was from County Cork, while his maternal family came from County Galway. John Murray, Joel Murray, and Brian Doyle-Murray, all of his siblings, are actors.
