Terrence LeVarr Thornton, better known by his stage as Pusha T, is a rapper and record executive from The Bronx, New York. He first garnered notoriety as a member of the hip-hop duo Clipse, which he formed with his brother Gene Thornton.

Early Years
Terrence LeVarr Thornton (a.k.a. Pusha T) was born in The Bronx, New York City, on May 13, 1977. Thornton and his brother Gene grew raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia after the family moved there.

Both brothers peddled drugs as teenagers, and Gene was finally booted out of his parents’ home once they discovered what he was up to. In 1992, he and Gene decided to pursue a career in hip hop, and they created the Clipse group.

Following the formation of Clipse, the brothers were introduced to Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes, a record producer, and fellow Virginian. In 1997, Williams assisted them in obtaining a recording contract with Elektra Records.
They started working on their debut album “Exclusive Audio Footage,” but the first single, “The Funeral,” was a commercial flop, and the album’s release was postponed. Soon after, Clipse was dropped from the label, and Terrence adopted the pseudonym, Pusha T.
They had similar success with their second single, “When the Last Time,” which reached No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. Clipse’s debut album, “Lord Willin,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Album list and No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in August 2002. In October 2002, the RIAA awarded the album gold certification.
Pusha T and his brother, Ab-Liva, created the hip-hop duo Re-Up Gang in 2004 after launching their own record label, Re-Up Records, with other rappers Ab-Liva and Sandman. “Hell Hath No Fury,” the group’s third studio album was released in 2006 to critical acclaim. The Neptunes produced the album, which debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard list.
The singles “Mr. Me Too” and “Wamp Wamp” were somewhat successful (What It Do). Pusha T signed with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label in 2010, and on March 21, 2011, he released his debut solo album, a mixtape named “Fear of God,” which was well-received by reviewers, and was followed by its official sequel, Fear of God II: Let Us Pray, also via G.O.O.D. Music.
Pusha T made his HBO debut in season two of “How to Make It in America” in 2011. Later that year, he was featured in Pixie Lott’s song “What Do You Take Me For?” by English pop singer Pixie Lott. The song was a hit single in the United Kingdom, reaching No. 10 on the Top 40 chart.
Pusha T’s official debut album, “My Name Is My Name,” was published by the label in 2013 and featured guest performances from Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, and others. Pusha released the album “King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude” in December 2015. Pusha T released the album “Daytona” in 2018 to widespread critical acclaim.

The feud between Pusha T and Lil Wayne began after Clipse and Birdman collaborated on “What Happened to That Boy” and lasted for years. Clipse’s song “Mr. Me Too,” Lil Wayne suspected, was aimed at him. Both men have played down their feud, with Wayne publicly declaring that he is over it.
After the release of T’s song “Exodus 23:1,” Pusha T was famously involved in a fight with Drake. Their animosity was exacerbated after he accused Drake of utilizing a ghostwriter for his lyrics in the song “Infrared” from his 2018 blockbuster album “Daytona.” Drake retaliated to the song with the diss single “Duppy Freestyle” less than 24 hours later.
