NCIS Season 19: Release Date, Cast, What Is NCIS’s Plot?
Few shows have achieved the heights attained by NCIS. The iconic CBS crime drama has aired 18 seasons and inspired numerous spinoffs, including NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and the upcoming NCIS: Hawaii.
However, the original NCIS continues to thrive, presently in its 19th season. NCIS was conceived by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill, who continue to write for the show.
When Is the Next NCIS Episode Scheduled to Air?
NCIS will take a week off and will not return on Monday, April 25. On May 2, the series is expected to return with fresh episodes. If you’re unable to watch NCIS during its regular time slot, you may catch up on the current episode the day after it airs on the CBS website or Paramount Plus.
On a related subject, good news for NCIS fans: CBS has officially announced that the long-running series will return for a 20th season.
When Is the NCIS Season 19 Finale Scheduled to Air?
NCIS season 19 concludes with its season finale on Monday, May 23. NCIS has already been renewed for a twentieth season in fall 2022.
Who Is the Cast of NCIS?
Mark Harmon has been the series’s protagonist since its inception, albeit we have a SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn’t caught up on the season thus far. After resolving the serial killer’s case, it appears as though Harmon’s Jethro Gibbs has chosen to remain in Alaska, where he has found serenity for the first time in a long time.
This concludes Harmon’s 18-year and-a-half tenure on the show. CBS and the NCIS creative team remained mute on whether Harmon would return in guest appearances in the future, but for the time being, Harmon’s tenure on NCIS is complete (in front of the camera, he is still an executive producer).
The remainder of the NCIS squad for season 19 is as follows:
- Timothy McGee – Sean Murray
- Nick Torres – Wilmer Valderrama
- Jimmy Palmer – Brian Dietzen
- Kasie Hines – Diona Reasonover
- Leon Vance – Rocky Carroll
- Donald Mallard – David McCallum
- Gary Cole, Allie Davis, Pam Dawber, and Katrina Law will join the NCIS cast this season.

What Is NCIS’s Plot?
NCIS follows the cases investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service out of its Washington, D.C., headquarters. Each week, the squad is led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and tasked with solving a specific case.
Season 19 will begin with the crew grappling with the aftermath of last season’s spectacular finale. SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t watched the latest NCIS episodes. Ellie Bishop chose to go undercover in the NCIS season 18 finale, saying a tearful farewell to Nick Torres; Gibbs fears he is being followed by a serial killer he has been investigating.
He continues the investigation, traveling by boat to seek evidence when the boat explodes. Gibbs’ body rises to the surface, seemingly dead, but he finally swims away. The first several episodes focused on this storyline and served as a send-off for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs (at least temporarily).
