Plot
The Bad Guys, a gang of notorious criminal animals led by the cool-headed Mr Wolf and known for their brazen thefts while eluding the authorities, attempt to steal the Golden Dolphin award at a gala from guinea pig philanthropist Professor Rupert Marmalade IV after being insulted on TV by Governor Diane Foxington.
During the heist, Wolf uses his leisure time to pickpocket other people, but unwittingly assists an elderly woman and is lauded for her kindness, causing Wolf to become impacted by his wrongdoings. After the gang is caught and incarcerated, Wolf persuades Marmalade to reform them with Foxington’s agreement, intending to use the ruse to steal the trophy again.
Marmalade welcomes the Bad Guys to his house, but his lessons are difficult for them, as they are unable to adjust to the concept of good behaviour.
Foxington decides to call off the experiment after a “heist for good” to rescue a herd of guinea pigs from a research lab fails due to Wolf’s second-in-command Mr Snake eating them, but relents when Wolf confesses that he despises being hated for his species, with Foxington admitting that she understands him and has hope for him.
Wolf mulls over the situation and finds himself rescuing a cat from a tree, which Marmalade records and distributes, changing the public perception of the Bad Guys. Snake, on the other hand, is concerned that he is losing connection with his pal.
When the Bad Guys carry out a new attempt to take the prize, Wolf is unable to complete the scheme. Suddenly, a meteorite on the exhibit is stolen, and the Bad Guys are held responsible. When the group is apprehended again, Marmalade meets them in secret and says that he stole the meteorite and disguised himself as the old lady Wolf assisted earlier in order to trick the gang into accepting the blame.
In prison, Wolf explains to his gang that he no longer wants to be a criminal and that they can be better, but Snake refuses as Wolf yells at him for his stubbornness, infuriating Snake into attacking Wolf until the Crimson Paw, a notorious criminal, rescues them, revealing herself to be Foxington, who reformed after attempting to steal the award herself.
When the Bad Guys reach safety, they bitterly forsake Wolf for betraying them. When they return to their hiding, they find it utterly devoid of their loot, since Wolf had previously divulged its location to Foxington as retaliation for his misdeeds.
After Snake willingly gives Mr Shark his last possession out of kindness, the other Bad Guys realise they can change their ways and help Wolf, though Snake denies it and abandons them to join forces with Marmalade, who plans to use the meteorite to power a mind-control device that will hypnotise an army of guinea pigs into robbing charity funds.
Meanwhile, Wolf and Foxington infiltrate Marmalade’s residence in order to steal the meteorite, only to be apprehended by Marmalade and Snake. Before they can be killed, the two are saved by the rest of the Bad Guys. They then take the meteorite and use it to thwart Marmalade’s objectives.
The Bad Guys arrive at the police station to turn in the meteorite after a frantic endeavour until they decide to go after Snake and bring him back despite his betrayal. During the hunt, Marmalade betrays Snake to gain an advantage, and the Bad Guys risk their lives to save him, haggling for his safety in exchange for the meteorite.
The Bad Guys surrender to the authorities after freeing Snake and destroying Marmalade’s helmet in order to prevent Foxington from revealing her old criminal past. Marmalade claims credit for collecting the meteorite, but it is discovered to be a forgery set by a privately repented Snake, who destroyed the actual one along with Marmalade’s home, exposing Marmalade as the true culprit to the authorities.
When the false meteorite strikes Marmalade, a diamond he took from Foxington falls out, which officials recognise as having been stolen by the Crimson Paw years before; as a result, Marmalade is blamed, damaging his reputation and resulting in his arrest.
One year later, the Bad Guys are released from prison due to their good behaviour, and they team up with Foxington to begin their new professions as crime fighters.
