First Kill Netflix: Is First Kill Based on a Book of the Same Name?
A new vampire-themed Netflix series is slated to debut on the streaming service, which is already overflowing with stories about the blood-sucking supernatural creatures’ legend. Instead of a prestige drama from the imagination of Midnight Mass’ Mike Flanagan, the streamer will be presenting a young adult fantasy named, First Kill, to its subscribers this time around.
The series is a sapphic teen drama from YA novelist V.E. Schwab and scream queen Emma Roberts, and it will be released in three parts. Schwab will serve as the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer, among other roles.
Rosalind Roberts and her closest friend, Karah Priess, will co-produce the series under the banner of their media firm, Belletrist Productions, which has been described as having “an eye toward rewarding book lovers.”
Aside from serving as showrunner, Felicia D. Henderson (The Punisher) will also serve as a writer and executive producer on the project, which will be credited to her on the credits.
Released Date of the First Kill
Netflix has officially confirmed that the series will premiere on Friday, June 10, 2022, which means that we aren’t too far away from the premiere date yet!
In the beginning, there was a cast of characters called First Kill. In Juliette Fairmont, a shy girl vampire who refuses to transform into a monster, Sarah Catherine Hook (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, NOS4A2, Impeachment: American Crime Story) takes on the role of Juliette Fairmont.
She has the support of her family, but it is not always the case that legacy and affection go hand in hand. In the role of Calliope “Cal” Burns, Imani Lewis (Hightown, The Equalizer, Eighth Grade) portrays a monster hunter who is fierce, determined, and far more fragile than she will ever admit.
Her sense of responsibility is at odds with the secret love that she has hidden deep within her heart. The Fairmonts are a family of hoteliers (vampires)
- Margot is played by Elizabeth Mitchell, and Sebastian is played by Will Swenson.

- Jack is played by Jason R. Moore.
- Apollo is played by Dominic Goodman.
- Theo is played by Phillip Mullings Jr., who also appears as a guest star.
- Tess Jonas is played by MK XYZ. Ben Wheeler is played by Dylan Allen.
Is First Kill Based on a Book of the Same Name?
Despite the fact that the series is not based on a book, its inspiration comes from Schwab’s own short story of the same name, which was published in the YA collection Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite.
Her presence in this live-action adaptation should come as a relief to fans, as it is not often that authors are given such a degree of authority over the direction and development of a live-action adaptation.
Countdown to the First Kill Episode
During the first season, there will be a total of eight episodes, with each episode lasting approximately 60 minutes on average, with some episodes lasting somewhat longer.
