Top Boy Season 5: When Might the Fifth Season of Top Boy Be Released?
Top Boy is a British crime drama television series. Ronan Bennett created and wrote the series, which is set on the fictional Summerhouse estate in the London Borough of Hackney.
When Might the Fifth Season of Top Boy Be Released?
It’s a done deal! Top Boy will return for a fifth season, but it will be the final run for the show. Ashley Walters and Kane ‘Kano’ Robinson said in a statement posted by Netflix, “For those that have followed the journey from the beginning, you know how much this show means to everyone on our crew, and we know how much it means to you.
“Having said that, and in keeping with our original intent, every story must have a conclusion, thus season three will be our conclusion. An opportunity to complete the voyage in the proper manner.
“We’re extremely thrilled about what’s to come, and we appreciate your company. We appreciate your efforts. “We will see you shortly!” The streaming giants have hinted that there will be a struggle for the streets, but who will rule Summerhouse Estate is still up in the air — with the exception of Jamie. Jamie, you are fired.
During the fourth season, Dushane toyed with the thought of leaving everything behind, but according to Walters, it’s not that simple. He stated in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy: “I do not believe that is what he truly desires. I mean, I played it with that in mind, that he’s saying it, and in an ideal world, that’d be fantastic, but I believe he’s so embedded in that lifestyle, has made so much money, and has had that much control.”
“It’s become about control now,” he added. It is not about material possessions. I believe that he is nourished by having control over his environment and the power that comes with it. Therefore, it would be difficult for him to abandon it.
The same announcement that confirmed Top Boy’s final season also revealed that production will begin in the summer, which means we may anticipate something in early spring 2023.
Who Will Be Returning for Season 5 of Top Boy?
Dushane, portrayed by Ashley Walter, and Sully, portrayed by Kane Robinson, made it through another season relatively uninjured. Since none perished, we anticipate their return.
Jamie (Michael Ward) is exceedingly unlikely to have survived Sully’s headshot, therefore it’s reasonable to assume that we’ve seen the last of him. After being shot by Jamie, his best friend Kit (Kadeem Ramsay) will not be returning for a second season. Stef’s best friend Ats (Kenyon Cook) also turned up dead in the middle of season four, making it a poor time to be a best friend.
However, we anticipate the return of the following:
- Shelley (Little Simz)
- Jaq (Jasmine Jobson)
- Aaron (Hope Ikpoku Jr)
- Stef (Araloyin Oshunremi)
- Lauryn (Saffron Hocking)
- Becks (Adwoa Aboa)
- Lizzie (Lisa Dwan)
- Ruben (James Corden) (Theo Ogundipe)
- Pebbles (Erin Kellyman) and Vee (Ava Brennan) are most likely to return.
What Will happen in Season 5 of Top Boy?
Well, one thing is certain: somebody is going to light up. Too much betrayal occurred during the previous season for there to be no repercussions. Most likely, Sully’s actions have caused a new split between him and Dushane.
Dushane was meant to retire after handing over control of the drug trade to Jamie. Now that Sully has scrapped that idea, Dushane is unlikely to take it lying down.
Unless, of course, he is lying down, paralyzed by the anxiety he seems to develop during the course of the fourth season. Dushane’s mental health may become an issue in the future, which will provide him with a new challenge.
Speaking of vengeance, the look that passed between Sully and Jamie’s youngest brother Stef was revealing; it was a lengthy stare in which Stef’s astonishment and amazement were replaced by grief, a hint of guilt, and perhaps resolution on Sully’s part. It would not be unreasonable to imagine that schoolboy Stef and bookworm Aaron would like to settle this score.
It would be fascinating to watch what Aaron does now that he is the earner and responsible for Stef’s care. Will he abandon his university studies and become homeless like Jamie? Season five will determine this.
Lauryn, sister of Jaq, will likely need to watch her back, as Jaq’s sister is likely to be enraged by Jamie’s brothers. You might assume that killing her controlling, violent ex-boyfriend Curtis (Howard Charles) would remove her from danger.
His sister Vee makes Curtis appear to be a lapdog in comparison. A disturbed lapdog, however. There is no universe in which she would not avenge the killing of her devoted brother. Hocking told Digital Spy regarding her character’s journey over season four:
“I believe that what she is experiencing would test anyone. For me as an actress to be able to play a character like her, I believe the most wonderful thing is that she never quits up. She continues to push herself, even, as you mentioned, to the point where she is at her limit.
“It merely demonstrates the strength of a mother or an expectant mother. Surely, mothers will do anything for their children. She also does this. Therefore, I believe it was a great thing to be able to channel.”
She said, “I just thought of my mum, who adores me tremendously. I also adore her! She would perform any task for me. So I simply thought, ‘OK, I’ve got to channel that here.’ Hocking said that she believed Lauryn would be able to put the events of season four behind her.
“I believe it’s a very difficult question. I’ve never been in her situation, but I can imagine that when you’re going through something as difficult as she has, you have to try to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“My character is obviously pregnant. I would want to imagine and hope for Lauryn that the birth of her child and everything she has worked for up to this point would make everything worthwhile in a way and that she will find happiness in that. But who can say?”
