Michael Manning Weatherly Jr. (born July 8, 1968) is an American actor, producer, director, and singer best known for portraying Anthony DiNozzo in NCIS (2003–2016) and Logan Cale in Dark Angel (2000–2003).
In 2016, he began playing Dr. Jason Bull in the courtroom drama Bull. In addition, he appeared in Meet Wally Sparks.
Early Years
Michael Weatherly was born in New York City on July 8, 1968, as Michael Manning Weatherly Jr. His mother, Patricia, was a hospital administrator, and his father, Michael, was a millionaire-making Swiss Army Knife importer in the United States.
Will and Michael were raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Michael attended Fairfield Country Day School. Weatherly graduated in 1986 from Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts. He briefly attended Boston University, American University, and Menlo College before abandoning his education to pursue an acting career.
Career
Weatherly made his acting debut in a 1991 episode of “The Cosby Show,” and later that year, he appeared as Preppy Killer on the soap opera “Guiding Light.” From 1992 to 1994, he appeared in over 290 episodes of “Loving,” and from 1995 to 1996, he repeated the role of Cooper Alden on “The City.”
Michael co-starred opposite Jennifer Garner on the 1998 Fox comedy “Significant Others,” which ran for six episodes, and he also appeared in six episodes of the NBC sitcom “Jesse” that same year. In the 1997 film “Meet Wally Sparks,” he portrayed Rodney Dangerfield’s kid.
He also participated in the 1998 film “The Last Days of Disco.” In 1999, Weatherly appeared as a guest star on “Charmed” and “The Crow: Stairway to Heaven” and in the indie film “Winding Roads.”

In 2000, he starred in two films, “Gun Shy” and “The Specials,” made a guest appearance on “Ally McBeal,” and debuted as cyber-journalist Logan Cale on “Dark Angel,” which aired 43 episodes over two seasons.
Michael played Tony DiNozzo for the first time in the April 2003 episode of “JAG” titled “Ice Queen.” He subsequently portrayed the role in 306 episodes of “NCIS” as well as episodes of “NCIS: New Orleans” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
While appearing on “NCIS,” he acted in “Her Minor Thing” (2005) and “Charlie Valentine” (2010), portrayed actor Robert Wagner (who later played DiNozzo’s father on “NCIS”) in the ABC television film “The Mystery of Natalie Wood” (2004), and guest-starred on “Major Crimes” (2012).
Weatherly began starring as psychologist Jason Bull on “Bull,” a CBS show partially based on Dr. Phil McGraw’s tenure as a trial consultant, after departing the popular CBS series.

The couple divorced in August 2003, and Michael married doctor, Dr. Bojana Jankovic, on September 30, 2009. On April 10, 2012, they had a daughter Olivia, and on October 29, 2013, they welcomed a son, Liam.
Alexandra Breckenridge, an actress who has appeared on television programs such as “American Horror Story” and “True Blood,” is Weatherly’s niece. Eliza Dushku, who had a recurring role on “Bull,” was awarded a $9.5 million settlement by CBS in January 2018 because she was sacked after reporting that Weatherly was acting improperly toward her on set.
According to the “New York Times,” Michael “commented on her appearance and made a rape joke and a threesome reference” in front of cast and crew members.
After the story was publicized, Weatherly issued a statement in which he said, “When Eliza told me she wasn’t comfortable with my language and effort at humor, I was sorry to have hurt her and apologized immediately.”
By issuing the statement, Michael violated the terms of the settlement, and Dushku labeled Michael’s apologies “further deflection, denial, and spin.” Due to the sexual harassment claims, Weatherly and “Bull” showrunner, Glenn Gordon Caron received leadership training in 2019.
