Chandraprakash Dwivedi will helm the upcoming Indian Hindi-language historical action drama film Samrat Prithviraj, which will be produced by Yash Raj Films and tell a story in the Hindi language.
The story of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput king who belonged to the Chahamana dynasty, is told in Prithviraj Raso, an epic poem written in the Braj language. This poem serves as the basis for the film.
In it, Akshay Kumar plays the character of Prithviraj Chauhan, and Manushi Chhillar, making her debut in the medium of Hindi cinema, plays the part of Sanyogita. In addition to Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana, and Sakshi Tanwar also play important parts in the movie.
On September 9, 2019, Yash Raj Films published an official motion poster for the film, which revealed that it will be available to watch in theaters on Diwali in the year 2020. The principal photography for the film started on November 15, 2019, in Jaipur.
However, it was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India, which resulted in the film being indefinitely postponed. The filming of the movie resumed at YRF Studios in October of the year 2020.
Following a legal dispute that occurred one week before the film was supposed to be released, the title of the movie was changed from Prithviraj to Samrat Prithviraj.
Prithviraj was the film’s original name. On June 3, 2022, the movie will be released in theaters in both 2D and IMAX formats.
Release
It had been previously announced that the film would be released in theaters on November 13, 2020, which would coincide with Diwali. However, because of the widespread COVID-19 pandemic, production will be halted between March and October of 2020, so the event has been postponed.
The movie was supposed to debut in theaters in 2D and IMAX on January 21, 2022, but the release date was pushed back because the Omicron variant was so widespread.
Last but not least, the film is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 3, 2022, in Hindi as well as dubbed versions in the languages of Tamil and Telugu.
In March of 2022, Rajput Karni Sena began their campaign of opposition to the film, during which they demanded assurance from the filmmakers that the movie would not alter the historical facts in any way.
The petition filed by Rajput Karni Sena resulted in the title of the movie, which had previously been titled Prithviraj, being changed to Samrat Prithviraj on May 27th, 2022.

About Samrat Prithviraj Movie (2022)
This historical drama, Prithviraj, is inspired by the life of the great king Prithviraj Chauhan and tells the story of his life.
You will follow Prithviraj Chauhan (Akshay Kumar) throughout his voyage, during which you will also observe his blooming love affair with Princess Sanyogita (Manushi Chhillar). The movie will take place in India.
The film will also focus on the relationship between King Prithviraj Chauhan’s trusted sacrament, Kaka Kanha (played by Sanjay Dutt), and Chand Vardai (Sonu Sood).
