Kate Hudson Celebrates Father’s Day With Kurt Russell
Celebrity fathers are similar to ours in that they communicate via social media as best they can.
Sunday, Kate Hudson shared with her followers a touching Father’s Day homage to Kurt Russell, her mother Goldie Hawn’s long-term partner.
“Fun, adventurous, passionate, determined, honest, devoted, incredible parent, and the best head of hair in Los Angeles,” she said with a throwback photo of her snuggling with Russell in bed. “Lucky us! Love you Pa! Best wishes for Father’s Day.”
As the “Almost Famous” star is estranged from her real father, musician Bill Hudson, Hudson was raised by her mother and Russell, Hawn’s companion of nearly 40 years.
Since Russell has no social media presence of his own, Hawn relayed her daughter’s message to him before posting his heartfelt answer for all to read in the comments section.
“Honey I presented it to my father. This is his message…” She wrote. “Birdie, your mother just showed me this image; it is the ideal Father’s Day gift. I’ve never seen it before.
“Wow…lethal,” it’s Russell wrote. “Much water has passed beneath the bridge… The water seems to have found its way into my eyes, making it somewhat difficult to see… Sweetheart, thank you for making me the luckiest parent in the world. I adore you, Pa.”
Hawn also shared an Instagram message to Russell along with a photo of the two actors kissing. She captioned the shot, “How can I express the thanks and love I feel for the best father who has given us all so much in this life?”
Hudson and her brother, actor Oliver Hudson, were born to Bill Hudson and Goldie Hawn during their 1976-1982 marriage, but both claim Kurt Russell to be their biological father.
Hawn and Russell share a son Wyatt Russell, who starred in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” The “Escape from New York” actor has a son named Boston from a previous relationship with Season Hubley.
In a Father’s Day post from the previous year, Hudson raved over Russell’s key position in her life, calling him a “wonderful devoted protector” and “our trustworthy true captain.”
However, the star’s estrangement from her biological father continues to weigh hard on her. “I have a wonderful family and a lovely mother.
In an episode of “Sunday Today with Willie Geist” last year, she remarked, “My stepfather came in and played a great, huge role in demonstrating what it means to have a reliable father figure in our lives.”
“But that doesn’t change the fact that we didn’t know our father,” she continued, referring to the rift as a “41-year-old problem” that persists to this day. People occasionally require reassurance that they are not alone.
Hudson paid special respect to her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa on Instagram on Father’s Day by posting a video of him with their 3-year-old daughter Rani.
Similar to her parents, Hudson has her own blended family. She is also the mother of Ryder, 18, whom she has with her ex-husband, musician Chris Robinson, and Bingham, 10, whom she shares with Muse vocalist Matt Bellamy from a prior relationship.
